Hearing Panetta condemn Trump for saying that he wished Russia had hacked Clinton’s email makes me feel sorry for the speechwriters and video makers of this convention. Trump continues to provide new material for them to incorporate into their messages — part of a strategy that was successful for him during the primaries of dominating news coverage. Whether it’s working for him in the general election remains to be seen.
