What Went Down On Day Three Of The Democratic Convention

I wonder how many people are looking up “malarkey” right now. When Joe Biden used it on national television four years ago, it led to a spike in searches at Merriam-Webster, and they named it one of their 2012 words of the year.

Biden had an interesting twist on the “first major party nominee” theme that is often invoked this week to celebrate Clinton’s nomination, the first of a woman by a major party. Biden argued that Trump represents a different kind of “first” — that never before has a major party nominee, Biden said, been so unprepared for the job of president.

Biden understands, and maybe even overdoes, the lost art of modulating his volume. Not sure how clear that comes thru on TV when they’re remixing the sound, but very clear and effective in the hall.
