What Went Down On Day Three Of The Democratic Convention
We’ve seen a turn in the night toward trying to paint Trump as unfit for office. This is the first time it’s been clear that the convention is trying to make the election a referendum on Trump. I’d argue it’s a smart turn: More Americans believe Clinton is better fit to be commander in chief than Trump, and nights like tonight can help bring the issue to the front of the minds of voters.
I spoke with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio yesterday about the contrasts between the Democratic and Republican parties in 2016 and the tightening of the race in the polls.
One big question I have is whether any of the Republicans in that video Carl and Clare mentioned — for instance, Mitt Romney — might go from merely being #NeverTrump to actually endorsing Clinton by November. We haven’t seen very much of that so far.
