I’m not quite sure whether there’s a smart political strategy to that, Sarah, but I’ve heard a number of stories from Democratic voters who have done just that — particularly in states, like you mention, where Democrats aren’t really competitive or don’t stand a chance against a Republican. In fact, in one of the latest Political Outliers columns, a progressive voter in Wyoming told me that a handful of her Democratic friends registered as Republicans to vote in a GOP primary so they could “vote for the least-worst Republican.”
