The Republicans are each deferring their time to Rachel Mitchell. New research suggests that the demographics of the GOP members of the committee (all 11 are men) call into question its legitimacy. This perception of legitimacy and fairness is probably why Republicans brought Mitchell in. As my colleague Ollie pointed out earlier, a Republican woman has never served on the Senate Judiciary Committee in its 200 year history.
