This is getting a bit tedious — which is another drawback of Mitchell’s jabbing, piecemeal approach. At this rate, all anyone is going to remember is that Ford was very, very strong in her opening statement. And maybe they’ll remember Grassley yelling a lot.

I’m not sure what Mitchell was trying to show there. Anna Eshoo is Ford’s local House member. Eshoo is quite liberal and a friend of Sen. Pelosi. I think what we might be building toward is depicting Ford as a super-liberal determined to take down Kavanaugh. Going to Eshoo will be cited by Mitchell as evidence of that, but I’m confused at this point.

I wonder how it would play politically if Trump jumped in and withdrew Kavanaugh, without a lot of ceremony about it, and sort of challenged the GOP base to send their arrows at him. The #NeverTrump Republicans, who are quite pro-Kavanaugh, would be very, very angry — but they’re a tiny part of the electorate, which is how we got Trump in the first place.
