I was thinking of 2010, too, Geoffrey. Murkowski beat a Tea Party Republican candidate in that election. She’s arguably always cultivated more of an independent stance, which I think has traditionally appealed to Alaskans — even if it doesn’t always appeal to Alaska Republicans.
