Republicans have been making a lot of noise about recruiting women in general this cycle, not just against Democratic women. The year 2020 saw the GOP elect the most women to the House in history (26, double how many they elected in 2018), and it’s been a focus since then — along with minority candidates and veterans. In South Texas especially, a lot of focus has been paid to now-Rep. Mayra Flores, TX-28 nominee Cassy Garcia and TX-15 nominee Monica de la Cruz as leading the charge for a more diverse GOP caucus.
