Obama came in for a lot of criticism for promising comprehensive immigration reform in his first year and then setting it aside. And his record on immigration after that was also mixed — he was very tough on immigration early in his presidency. Over the course of his time in office, more than 3 million unauthorized immigrants were removed from the U.S., compared to about 2 million immigrants under President George W. Bush and less than a million under President Bill Clinton. Some advocates are still upset with him for that — and Obama’s immigration record keeps coming back as a question for Biden.
