What Went Down In The Third Democratic Debate

By

As far as how my candidates did, I think Booker was pretty sharp! But, as I said at the outset, his issue hasn't really been performance so much as strategy, and I think strategically he might be better off positing himself more toward the center. Could some party elites get nervous that Harris is flopping and that Biden has a lot of downside risk after another mixed debate performance? Maybe. And maybe they could turn to Booker. But Klobuchar and O'Rourke also had good debates, and they're plausible landing spots too.
As for Buttigieg, I think he was perfectly fine ... better in the second half than the first half when he made it more personal ... but he hasn't really gained ground in the debates so far, so repeating the same solid performances from Rounds 1 and 2 isn't necessarily a bullish indicator. And several of the other non-top-tier candidates had strong nights, so it's at least theoretically possible that someone like Booker or O'Rourke could gain ground at his expense.
