What Went Down In The Third Democratic Debate

On immigration, it’s worth remembering that Democrats have surged toward a more pro-immigration perspective since Trump won the White House — 83 percent of Democrats now believe that immigrants strengthen the country, far higher than in the past.

In a June 2019 Gallup poll, 27 percent of Americans want to increase legal immigration, 37 percent think the present level is fine, and 35 percent want to decrease those levels.

As a Midwesterner, I don’t buy that the only people who buy into racist rhetoric about immigrants don’t know any. I’ve personally seen the opposite be true. The problem is harder to solve than that.
