I think this might be the decisive debate for Castro. He’s basically doing to Biden what Harris did in the first debate, and it helped her in the polls. If this doesn’t help Castro in the polls, he may simply not have room to grow.

The debate moderators have in many of the debates so far pressed the more left candidates with arguments from the middle. Jorge Ramos is taking a very clear left position on immigration here, which is an interesting dynamic to see.

Castro, it’s worth noting, is the only Dem candidate whose climate change plan includes plans for some way to assist and support environmental migrants, including people fleeing climate-change-associated drought in Central America.
