Another note on viewership — the first two Democratic primary debates haven’t come close to the 24 million people who tuned in to the first GOP primary debate in August 2016. With summer vacations behind us and all the candidates debating on a single night, viewership may be higher tonight. But it’s definitely hard to compete with a Trump debate.
