I want to respond to Nate’s comment about Harris having a Williamson vibe. It strikes me that this sort of tone — a little informal, a little out there, a little forceful — is a way for women to navigate the minefield of running for president and having to balance conventionally masculine traits alongside some of the positive qualities that people associate with female candidates, like empathy and warmth (which my fellow blogger Meredith has written extensively about).
