Shapiro’s win means that abortion will almost certainly stay legal in Pennsylvania for the next four years. Current Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has vetoed several abortion bans during his term, and Shapiro is poised to do the same thing if the Republican-controlled legislature passes more anti-abortion legislation. That’s important because some women may be traveling to Pennsylvania for abortions — and an abortion ban in such a large state would have a big impact.
