With 48 percent of the expected vote reporting, Hochul has a comfortable lead over Zeldin in the New York governor’s race (61 percent vs. 39 percent). The race has been perceived as uncomfortably competitive for Democrats, but it doesn’t really look that way right now. Hochul held a rally last week with Vice President Kamala Harris and former New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, urging women in Manhattan to vote and arguing that if they didn’t, abortion rights could be at risk. Zeldin, a Long Island congressman, has focused on crime and the high cost of living.
