ABC News projects that Republican Eric Schmitt has won the Senate race in Missouri. Schmitt, who is currently serving as the state’s attorney general, will replace Republican Roy Blunt, who is retiring after 12 years in the Senate. Schmitt’s opponent, Democrat Trudy Busch Valentine, had plenty of cash to spend — she’s the daughter of August Busch Jr., the late former chairman of the Anheuser-Busch beer company. But she never gained momentum in Missouri, which is a fairly reliably red state.
