ABC News projects that JB Pritzker, the incumbent Democratic governor of Illinois, has won reelection. This is another one that wasn’t a huge surprise — in addition to being an incumbent Democrat in a blue state, Pritzker was running against a highly conservative state senator, Republican Darren Bailey, who has made controversial comments comparing the Holocaust to abortion. There was one moment of amity at the end of the two candidates’ debate, though, when Bailey said that he wanted Pritzker to take him suit shopping. Maybe now that can happen?
Elsewhere in Illinois, ABC News projects that Democratic Sen. Tammy Duckworth will keep her seat, as will a slew of Democratic House candidates and a few Republicans. We are still waiting on calls in IL-06, where Casten is leading with 68 percent of the expected vote reporting, IL-14, where Underwood is leading with 64 percent of the expected vote reporting, and IL-17, where King is leading with 25 percent of the expected vote reporting.
