We’re starting to get some results in Arizona, where a significant portion of the electorate votes early or absentee. In the governor’s race, Democrat Katie Hobbs is leading Republican Kari Lake 55 percent to 45 percent, with 40 percent of the expected vote reporting. In the Senate race, incumbent Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly leads Republican Blake Masters 56 percent to 41 percent with 41 percent of the expected vote reporting. And in Arizona’s 2nd District, it’s a dead heat: Republican Eli Crane slightly leads incumbent Democratic Rep. Tom O’Halleran 51 percent to 49 percent with 48 percent of expected votes returned. Most of those results are coming from early and absentee ballots and while a lot of voters in Arizona — both Republican and Democrat — vote early or absentee, the majority of Election Day voters are going to lean red, so we’ll expect these races to tighten and/or Republicans to pull ahead as today’s ballots get tallied.
