The fate of abortion hangs in the balance in many states tonight, but the outcome of one state’s battle for the state legislature could have an impact on abortion access throughout the South. Many Southerners have had to travel to North Carolina for abortions since Roe v. Wade was overturned. But whether abortion will stay legal up to 20 weeks in the state could come down to just five seats in the state legislature.
