Reader, it has been a beautiful and strange two weeks. But all good things must come to an end: We’re putting a bow on our unresolved-races live blog. To recap, here’s how everything shook out in the 2022 election — and the handful of races that are still up in the air.
Senate
Democrats kept control, winning at least 50 seats to Republicans’ 49. That Republican number includes Alaska, where we know a Republican will be elected but we don’t know if it will be Lisa Murkowski or Kelly Tshibaka. That will be determined via ranked-choice voting on Nov. 23. The final Senate seat is Georgia, which is going to a runoff on Dec. 6.
House
Republicans flipped the chamber, winning at least 219 seats to Democrats’ 212. Four seats are still undecided:
Several House races are still up in the air

Governor
At least 25 states will have Republican governors, and at least 24 will have Democratic ones. Democrats flipped Arizona, Maryland and Massachusetts in the 2022 election, and Republicans flipped Nevada. The one unresolved gubernatorial race is in Alaska, where Republican Mike Dunleavy has a solid lead with 51 percent of first-place votes.
Down-Ballot
Democrats did great in 2022 on the state-legislative level, flipping at least four chambers; Republicans, by contrast, didn’t flip any. Three chambers are still unresolved: the Alaska state Senate, Alaska state House and New Hampshire state House. Democrats also did well in races for attorney general and secretary of state; most notably, six of the seven Republican secretary-of-state candidates who believed the 2020 election was fraudulent lost. Only one down-ballot statewide election is still in suspense: the razor-close race for Arizona attorney general, which is almost certainly going to a recount.
