According to the Associated Press, Democrats have officially won a majority of seats in the Pennsylvania state House, likely by one seat (102-101). It’s the fourth state-legislative chamber that Democrats have flipped in 2022. However, it’s still an open question who will control the chamber for the first several weeks of session: Three Democratic-won seats will be vacant because of a death and two resignations, giving Republicans a numeric majority. Those three seats will quickly be filled in special elections, and since they are all safely blue, Democrats will eventually take control, but in the meantime there is talk of a coalition government.
