Speaking of attorneys general, let’s do a recap of who won the most important/competitive AG races in the country last week.

  • In Colorado, Democratic incumbent Phil Weiser defeated Republican John Kellner 55 percent to 43 percent.
  • In Florida, Republican incumbent Ashley Moody defeated Democrat Aramis Ayala 61 percent to 39 percent.
  • In Georgia, Republican incumbent Chris Carr defeated Democrat Jen Jordan 52 percent to 47 percent.
  • In Iowa, Republican Brenna Bird defeated Democratic incumbent Tom Miller 51 percent to 49 percent. Miller is the longest-serving attorney general in U.S. history but could not survive Iowa’s political realignment toward the GOP.
  • In Kansas, Republican Kris Kobach defeated Democrat Chris Mann 51 percent to 49 percent, returning the controversial former secretary of state to public office.
  • In Michigan, Democratic incumbent Dana Nessel defeated Republican Matthew DePerno 53 percent to 45 percent.
  • In Minnesota, Democratic incumbent Keith Ellison defeated Republican Jim Schultz 50.4 percent to 49.6 percent.
  • In Nevada, Democratic incumbent Aaron Ford defeated Republican Sigal Chattah 51 percent to 43 percent.
  • In Texas, scandal-plagued Republican incumbent Ken Paxton defeated Democrat Rochelle Garza 54 percent to 44 percent.
  • In Wisconsin, Democratic incumbent Josh Kaul defeated Republican Eric Toney 51 percent to 49 percent.
