With last night’s updates from Arizona, the Associated Press is now projecting that Proposition 309 has failed, 50.4 percent to 49.6 percent. If it had passed, it would have required people who vote by mail to provide a voter identification number and date of birth, and it also would have eliminated the current exception to showing a photo ID when you vote in person (if you don’t have a photo ID, you may show two pieces of non-photo ID).
