With last night’s big updates in Arizona, we also now know the results of a few key ballot measures in the state.
- Proposition 308 has passed, 51 percent to 49 percent. That means graduates of Arizona high schools will be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities regardless of their immigration status.
- Proposition 129 has passed, 55 percent to 45 percent, which will limit ballot measures to a single subject. That will make it harder on reformers who might try to roll a bunch of policies into a single ballot measure; now they’ll have to collect signatures for each one separately.
- Proposition 131 has also passed, 55 percent to 45 percent. This measure will create a lieutenant governor for Arizona starting in the 2026 election. Currently, Arizona is one of just five states without a lieutenant governor; in case of a vacancy in the governorship, the secretary of state becomes governor.
