What Went Down During The 2021 Elections

Apologies for returning to our earlier debate on how much of a factor “education” was in Virginia vs. race and racism vs. normal movement against the president’s party, but I can’t stop thinking about Jacob’s very smart point that the result in New Jersey should really factor into our interpretation of Virginia.

If New Jersey ends up close (even if Murphy wins), that throws a lot of cold water on all the Virginia-specific takes.

Progressive Justin Bibb currently leads moderate Kevin Kelley 60 percent to 40 percent in the race for Cleveland mayor, and Kelley has apparently seen enough:

As Nate Cohn points out here, we have very little information on New Jersey. It’s basically a shruggie emoji for now.
