As Nate Cohn points out here, we have very little information on New Jersey. It’s basically a shruggie emoji for now.

It's hard to get a good grip on New Jersey, imo. Not only are we missing result by method, but there's not much consistency among the higher turnout, presumably nearly-done counties. There just aren't many data points in a state w 12 counties or whatever, esp if they're noisy

With 56 percent of the expected vote reporting, Ciattarelli leads Murphy 51 percent to 48 percent in New Jersey. How worried should Murphy be? It’s hard to tell, to be honest. There’s no county that’s 100 percent reporting to benchmark against, and it’s hard to know whether the outstanding vote is mostly Republican-leaning in-person votes or Democratic-leaning absentees. Based on the fundamentals of the race, I assume that Murphy will pull it out, but I can’t promise it won’t be close.

McAuliffe may not have conceded, but the mood among his family, aides and supporters was solemn — a physical acknowledgment of their prospects.

Off stage, some in McAuliffe’s family were in tears. Aides were consoling each other. And some electeds couldn't leave fast enough.
