What Went Down During The 2021 Elections
I think the final result in New Jersey could shed some light on the thermostatic vs. policy-specific debate. If Murphy’s win is in the mid-single digits, that seems like a fairly good piece of evidence toward thermostatic. Ciattarelli ran on property taxes, not CRT. If Murphy wins by more, then the picture is more muddled by incumbency and things of that nature.
I absolutely agree that that’s the bottom line, Mackenzie. Biden’s setting the climate; we’re talking about what’s influencing the weather.
It’s possible what’s going on in Virginia could be a movement against the party in the White House, considering Biden’s low approval ratings and how both gubernatorial candidates sought to nationalize the race. If Youngkin wins, Biden will become the eighth consecutive president where the opposition party wins the Virginia governor’s race in the president’s first term.
