Today is an important day! Yeah, that's right: It's the day the U.S. formally leaves the Paris Climate Agreement. We're the only one of 200 signatories to the agreement to pull out, and our status is linked closely to the outcomes of this still-ongoing election. Trump immediately began the process of withdrawing from the agreement, which the Obama administration helped craft, upon taking office and spent four years rolling back the environmental regulations that would have helped us hold up our end of the deal. Those decisions now leave China and the European Union as global leaders on climate change. And, oh yeah, if Biden wins, he can have us back in the agreement in 30 days -- but may not have the congressional power to implement serious climate control measures that somebody else couldn't just reverse-reverse-reverse later. Regardless of the election outcome, you're going to be hearing about the political fallout of this day for years.
