How The U.S. Beat The Netherlands For A Fourth Women’s World Cup Title
This isn’t the only international tournament final the U.S. is playing in today. The Softball International Cup final is starting now over on ESPN, with the U.S. taking on Japan. The Americans have already qualified for the 2020 Olympics — baseball and softball are back in the Olympics for the first time since 2008, yet likely won’t be back for 2024. The U.S. won silver last year to Japan’s gold, and a few of the players from that team are back on this team, including Monica Abbott and Cat Osterman, who starts in the circle today.
The Volleyball Nations League final was earlier this morning, with the U.S. women’s team taking down Brazil with a remarkable comeback, 20-25, 22-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-13. That team will look next year to avenge a bronze medal from 2016 and win its first-ever gold medal.
Finally, the USMNT faces Mexico tonight in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final. It’s a pretty busy day.
