Another set of ballot initiatives to watch tonight: Two red states could be on the verge of raising their minimum wage. Voters in Arkansas will decide whether to raise the minimum wage from $8.50 per hour to $11 per hour by 2021, while Missouri voters will determine whether to raise the minimum wage from $7.85 an hour to $12 an hour by 2023. The federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 per hour since 2009, which is why many states are acting to raise their own pay floor. But even though the Arkansas minimum-wage proposal is polling well, and the proponents of Missouri’s measure have raised a lot of money, the issue still remains politically divisive — at least among politicians.
