Chad, one big impact of the Kavanaugh confirmation process was that it allowed Democrats to talk a lot about what would happen if Roe v. Wade gets overturned by the court’s new conservative majority. I just wrote about how Democrats this year are much more likely to report that abortion is a top voting issue for them than they were in past years. Hard to say, of course, if that heightened concern is a direct result of the Kavanaugh hearings, but it raised the stakes around the issue of abortion in a way that may have been helpful to Democrats.
